Anton Refalo is burning public funds for feasts and parties to boost political support for him and his friends

Recently, the Agriculture Minister Anton Refalo sponsored a public event in which he offered free meals to his constituents during a public feast in Gozo. He sponsored the event with the Ministry’s funds not his own and the scandal has also been reported to the Standards Commissioner by Arnold Cassola.

The occurrence doesn’t seem to be a one off as the Minister for Agriculture is issuing more public funds for yet another free dinner for the public, this time with the Paola Local Council. The event is being organised in Paola because the Vice-Mayor of Paola, Darren Lynch, is the boyfriend of the Agriculture Minister’s Private Secretary, Martina Grech. Darren Lynch also plans to contest the general election with the Labour Party and the event is primarily aimed to help Darren Lynch’s election prospects.

Basically, the Minister for Agriculture is using public funds to blatantly fund his political campaign and that of his friends and political allies. These events are also ridiculous. This is the the Medieval era and and the pretend Feudal Lords should not be holding public events to distribute food for free.
