Yesterday in Parliament, Alex Borg called for an immediate discussion on the government’s corrupt contract to Fortina Group (Michael Zammit Tabona). This is the first time ever that I have seen Alex Borg opposing a corrupt project by the Labour government and it’s also one of his first actions in Parliament following his appointment as Leader of the Opposition. Undoubtedly, this is a positive sign.
I also agree with Jason Azzopardi’s argument that the government should take the parties that signed the contract to Court and recoup the losses – this is what the ex-disgraced Premier Joseph Muscat did with regard to the corrupt property deal with Mark Gaffarena.
The government is going to have a problem to take Michael Zammit Tabona to Court because he is one of the biggest donors to the Labour Party. The Labour Party may lose up to €100,000 in donations every year if it takes Fortina Group to Court.
