Alex Borg rallies the crowds during Independence Day celebrations

Pjazza Tritoni was packed with Nationalist Party supporters as the new party’s leader, Alex Borg rallied the crowds with his first ever mass rally speech. In his speech he made an emphasis on the renewed enthusiasm the Nationalist Party is garnering and vowed to open the party to as many people as possible. He also vowed to convince disenfranchised voters, including ex-PN members to support the Nationalist Party for its renewed bid for the government.

Alex Borg also said that he will be listening to as many voices as possible and that the Nationalist Part should be more open, but reiterated that the Nationalist Party alone will set its agenda. He said that he has no enemies except for those who damage Malta as he appealed for supporters to support him. His speech was met with loud cheers and applause from the crowds.

His speech was well worded, aimed at galvanising Nationalist Party supporters behind his leadership while making a broader, national appeal for support. He made no major announcements in his speech on policy or changes to the party. He thanked Adrian Delia along with other previous PN leaders and reiterated that Delia will remain an important member and MP for the Party and the parliamentary group.

The Nationalist Party is holding its annual Party celebrations at Pjazza Tritoni celebrating Malta’s 61st Independence Day anniversary. Nationalist Party Prime Minister George Borg Olivier announced Malta’s Independence Constitution at the same location on 21st September 1964.

  1. I think the headline should have read “… rally the crowd…”.
