Hibernians moved one point clear at the top of the YoHealth Malta Premier League after easing past Naxxar Lions with a 2-0 victory, thanks to goals from Cleiton and Lucas Villela. The win takes the Paolites to 11 points, overtaking Floriana at the summit of the standings.
Cleiton Strikes Early
Hibernians wasted no time in stamping their authority on the match, taking the lead inside the opening minute.
Bjorn Kristensen delivered a perfectly weighted long pass to Cleiton, who used his pace and strength to outmuscle his marker before chipping the ball elegantly over the onrushing goalkeeper Matthias Debono.
The early goal allowed Hibernians to control the tempo, and they almost doubled their advantage in the 24th minute when Dexter Xuereb slipped through Villela, only for the Brazilian forward to drag his effort wide.

Holding a narrow lead, the Paolites opted to manage the game, maintaining possession and limiting Naxxarโs attacking opportunities.
The Lions looked brighter after the interval and showed more attacking intent, but they lacked the necessary cutting edge to seriously threaten the Hibernians defence.
Villela Seals the Win
With Naxxar pushing forward, Hibernians struck again to kill the contest. Villela found space, skipped past his marker, and finished clinically past Debono to seal the three points and secure a comfortable victory for the league leaders.

ลปabbar St Patrick remain in search of their first league win of the season after being held to a 1-1 draw by Tarxien Rainbows.
The Saints looked on course for victory when Pedro Santiago Cejas put them ahead in the 27th minute. However, Tarxien battled back and equalised with eight minutes remaining thanks to Kwasi Donsu, ensuring both sides shared the spoils.

Hibernians now lead the league with 11 points, closely followed by Floriana, as the race for the top spot intensifies.
