MUBE orders resumption of strike at HSBC Malta: workers divided over union’s directives

The Malta Union of Banking Employees has issued directives to resume the strike at HSBC Malta from tomorrow due to lack of agreement on the compensation offered by the bank.  The MUBE had previously suspended the strike after HSBC senior management entered into talks.

However, not all union members will be adhering to the directives. The Maltese Herald has been informed that many workers will not be abiding with the strike directive saying that it is not in their interest to do so. Senior staff and members at MUBE are demanding a sum in excess of €100,000 while younger employees have been offered €2,000.

HSBC Malta is in a transition to be sold to Credia Bank.
