Adrian Delia’s partner Cynthia Galea to contest for PN National Executive

As the dust settles on the PN leadership election and new leader Alex Borg continues to make inroads, the battle has now shifted to the election of the National Executive.

Several candidates have thrown their hat into the ring with two being particularly prominent. Former Secretary General Michael Piccinino announced his intention to contest yesterday but the most interesting name by far is Cynthia Galea, Adrian Delia’s partner. It is a known fact that the Delia camp is still bitter after having lost the election by a mere 44 votes. Galea had a prominent role in Delia’s campaign and even interviewed him at one of the events.

In a Facebook post following the submission, Piccinino said he was entering the race with a sense of responsibility and determination, expressing his belief in the strong potential within the Party and the need for renewed energy ahead of the upcoming electoral challenges.

“The months ahead will be crucial,” Piccinino said. “We must work with greater enthusiasm, energy, and direction to ensure that the Nationalist Party is fully prepared for the next general election and ready to serve as a true instrument of change for our country.”

Piccinino added that he aims to contribute a blend of youthful energy and experience to the Party’s leadership team. He stated that, together with Party Leader Alex Borg, he hopes to continue strengthening the Nationalist Party into a more united, dynamic, and effective force capable of delivering the change that Malta urgently needs.

Galea also announced her candidacy through a Facebook post where she  emphasized that achieving real change requires participation and commitment from everyone within the party and beyond.

“It’s easy to complain and to say what should be done,” Galea said. “But if we truly want change, everyone must step forward, offer their skills, and contribute what they believe in. I’m ready to do my part.”

Galea explained that she hopes to bring her perspective as a mother, a Gozitan, and a lawyer to the PN Executive Committee, working to strengthen inclusive and people-focused policymaking within the party.

“I want to offer my point of view so that together we can build a politics that is broader, more representative, and truly close to the people,” she added.

Other candidates who are to contest the election include another Gozitan and Alex Borg supporter William Vella, Tarxien PN Club President Raymond Cassar and Forum Opportunitajiet Indaqs member Freddie Gerada who is also an LGBTIQ activist.

    “Inroads” by Alex Borg?
    Go fufu yourself Gerald.
Had Delia won the PN leadership race we would have had an election by March next year.
All bets are off so much so that 2027 is cropping up again.
Delia would have given the PL a hard time.
    Borg?
