BOV Amateur League I 2025/26: Attard lead the way as Qrendi Shock Senglea

The second Match Day of the BOV Amateur League I 2025/26 delivered a thrilling set of fixtures, with Attard maintaining their perfect start, Qrendi producing the upset of the weekend, and Kirkop continuing their impressive form. Zejtun, Qormi, San ฤ wann, and Mellieฤงa also celebrated key victories in a round filled with drama, goals, and pivotal moments across the league.

Attard 2โ€“1 Mqabba

Attard go two from two

Attard remain the only team with maximum points after overcoming Mqabba 2โ€“1 at the Centenary Stadium. Daniel Agiusโ€™ side showed great composure, while Mqabba were left to rue several missed chances.

Mqabba started brightly, with Luka Mijic going close early on and Mario Bartolo denying Nicholas Schembri. Saturday Nanapare also tested Zach Valletta from distance.

After the break, Matthew Borg hit the bar for Mqabba before Attard struck first โ€” Precious Nwankwo finding the bottom corner following a Tejumola Ayorinde assist. Ayorinde was sent off shortly after for a second yellow, but Nick Ghio doubled Attardโ€™s lead with a precise header.

Mqabba pulled one back late through Nanapare, but Vallettaโ€™s heroics in stoppage time sealed all three points for Attard.

Senglea Athletic 2โ€“6 Qrendi

Qrendi stun Senglea with six-goal show

The biggest surprise of the round came at the Sirens Stadium, where Qrendi dismantled promotion hopefuls Senglea Athletic with an emphatic 6โ€“2 victory.

Brandon Bray scored twice in the first half, including a stunning long-range opener. A deflected own goal off Jake Stensen made it 3โ€“0 after the break, before Joseph Ogunuppe added the fourth. Timmy Thomas converted a penalty for Senglea to reduce the deficit, but Qrendi hit back with further strikes from James Lima and Gillmore Azzopardi to cap a sensational win.

Luqa St Andrewโ€™s 2โ€“5 Kirkop United

Kirkop continue strong start

Kirkop produced another shock result, defeating Luqa St Andrewโ€™s 5โ€“2 at the Mosta Ground.

James Oghenekewaro gave Kirkop the lead from the penalty spot, with Daryl Vella-Gerada doubling it before half-time. Substitute Dicko Drissa and Miguel Zammit extended the lead to 4โ€“0 after the break.

Andreas Psaila netted twice for Luqa to give the scoreline some respectability, but Drissaโ€™s second goal ensured a convincing win for Kirkop, who remain unbeaten.

Lija Athletic 1โ€“2 ลปejtun Corinthians

Late drama sees ลปejtun claim comeback win

Lija Athletic ended the game with eight men, allowing ลปejtun Corinthians to turn the match around and claim a 2โ€“1 victory.

Lija were dominant early on and took the lead through Erjon Beuโ€™s header. But Mead Mifsudโ€™s second yellow card shortly after the break turned the tide. Ousman Ismailaโ€™s free-kick forced a penalty for ลปejtun, which Stefi Cale converted.

Moments later, Julian Camilleri saw red, further damaging Lijaโ€™s hopes. Cale then scored the winner with a composed finish, sealing all three points for ลปejtun.

Qormi 3โ€“1 Victoria Hotspurs

Qormi underline promotion credentials

Qormi came from behind to beat Victoria Hotspurs 3โ€“1 at the Centenary Stadium in an impressive display.

Kurt Borg gave Victoria an early lead, but Liam McKay equalised with a delicate lob before Kieran Fenech completed the turnaround before half-time.

Ferdinando Apap missed a glorious chance to level for Victoria, and Qormi punished the error through a stunning Emmanuel Garba strike. Zerafaโ€™s side then controlled the game to secure an important victory.

Pembroke Athleta 0โ€“3 San ฤ wann

San ฤ wann secure derby win

Pembroke remain the only side without points after falling 3โ€“0 to neighbours San ฤ wann.

Adam Falzon opened the scoring with a precise low drive. San ฤ wann remained in control after the break, with Falzon doubling his tally and Jake Grech adding a late third to complete a comfortable win for Xavier Salibaโ€™s promotion hopefuls.

Xgฤงajra Tornados 2โ€“3 Mellieฤงa

Schranz hat-trick inspires Mellieฤงa

In the early Sirens Stadium fixture, Mellieฤงa clinched their first win of the season with a 3โ€“2 victory over Xgฤงajra Tornados. Centre-back Sean Schranz stole the show with a remarkable hat-trick โ€” all from set-pieces.

Mellieฤงa took the lead through Schranzโ€™s first header, but goals from Shaban Chikh Ali turned the match around for Xgฤงajra. Schranz equalised again late on, and after Loumar Cutajarโ€™s dismissal, he struck the winner to seal a memorable win for Mellieฤงa.
