Over 20 drivers caught without licence and 4 driving under the influence of alcohol

Throughout this week, the Police continued routine traffic inspections across several roads in Malta as part of ongoing enforcement efforts to improve road safety.

During these checks, which took place in areas including Ħaż-Żebbuġ, Qormi, St Paul’s Bay, Luqa, Paola, Birżebbuġa, Żejtun, Msida, Ħamrun, and Kirkop, police officers found around 20 drivers operating vehicles without a valid driving licence. Four others were caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

The inspections also revealed 24 cases of speeding, including one vehicle recorded travelling at 137 kilometres per hour in a 70 km/h zone. In addition, around 150 other traffic contraventions were issued for various violations of road regulations.

Officers from LESA assisted police in several of the operations.

The Malta Police Force said it remains committed to conducting regular traffic enforcement checks at all times of the day to ensure the safety of all road users.
