Man arrested in Marsa after drugs worth €14,000 found in his possession

A 44-year-old man from Valletta was arrested on Thursday after being found in possession of a considerable amount of substances suspected to be cocaine and heroin, allegedly intended for trafficking. The drugs are estimated to have a street value of around €14,000.

Following days of investigation, police officers spotted the man driving a vehicle in Marsa. He was stopped immediately, but upon noticing the police, he was seen throwing a bag out of the car.

A search was carried out on the man and his vehicle, during which officers discovered around 210 sachets containing a substance suspected to be cocaine and 69 sachets containing what is believed to be heroin, along with a sum of cash.

A magisterial inquiry has been opened in connection with the case. The man is being held at the Police Headquarters in Floriana and is expected to be arraigned in court later today, at around 11am, before Magistrate Victor Axiak.
