Editorial: We are concerned for the safety of journalists and dissidents amid the Hamas attacks

The international community and the international press have given their full attention to Israeli war crimes throughout its geocidal-war in Gaza. It has been widely acknowledged that Israel specifically targeted Palestinian and foreign journalists throughout its war in Gaza. We also documented many of Israel’s war crimes against Palestinian journalists.

Unfortunately, there is little concern worldwide by the international community and the press on the ongoing purges of Palestinian dissidents by Hamas. Hamas has killed many journalists and dissidents throughout Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.

Flying from the US to Israel on Air Force One, President Donald Trump inferred that he has allowed Hamas to conduct security in Gaza. Allowing Hamas to enforce security in Gaza also means potential death and torture to many journalists and dissidents in Gaza.

We are very concerned about the safety of journalists and dissidents in Gaza amid the Hamas attacks and we urge the diplomatic-international community to exert maximum pressure on Hamas to refrain from conducting politically-motivated reprisals. We also urge the international press to be more vigilant on this issue, including by focusing on the threat that Hamas is posing to dissidents and journalists.
