New trading link between Elctrogas/SOCAR clique and Alkagesta emerges

A new connection between the Electrogas/SOCAR clique of traders and Alkagesta, Malta’s largest oil cargo-trader, has emerged thanks to an indirect link found by oil and energy industry press outlet Euro Asia News. The article notes that Maddox  DMCC, a commodity trading company in Dubai, lists Russia as one of its major oil suppliers along with Turkey. Alkagesta is one of the listed 36 buyers of Maddox’s oil cargo.

Maddox DMCC is linked to Maddox SA which is owned by Rovshan Tamrazov. Roshvan Tamrazov sent a payment of up to €2.3 million to Yorgen Fenech’s 17 Black company in Dubai in 2015. Rovshan Tamrazov sent the payment to Yorgen Fenech via his company Crowbar Holdings. Linked to this company is also Mariam Alszade, who was a director of the company but eventually became the CEO of SOCAR Trading SA in 2018.

The Maddox Group had denied any connections to the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia but did not explain their payment to Yorgen Fenech.

Adnan Ahmadzada, who is the hidden owner of Alkagesta, is currently under arrest in Azerbaijan over oil fraud and for mainly mixing Azerbaijani oil products with Russian crude oil. He was also the Head of SOCAR’s Marketing and Economics Department until he was promoted as SOCAR’s Executive Director in 2018.

The Maltese Herald was even quoted in a televised broadcast on The Baku Post. We were also one of the first press outlets that reported on the arrest of Adnan Ahmadzada. Alkagesta is involved in smuggling Russian and Libyan oil from Malta. Our investigation is ongoing. […]
