At least 2 individuals in their thirties suspected of having stolen the Imperial jewelry from the Louvre Museum have been arrested with one of the individuals arrested at Charles de Gaulle Airport as he was in the process of leaving the country.
The robbery at Louvre Museum in Paris occurred last Sunday on 19 October 2025, and was carried out by at least four individuals. They used a stolen truck fitted with a German‐made freight lift to access a first-floor window of the Galerie d’Apollon, broke into display cases using angle cutters and chainsaws, and escaped with a haul including the Imperial Crown within six to seven minutes. The stolen haul comprised eight pieces from France’s Crown Jewels, valued at around €90 million.
During the heist, the robbers accidentally dropped Empress Eugénie’s crown (featured in the image above) and was later found nearby the museum. The rest of the jewels have not been recovered. You can view a list of the stolen jewels from this CNN article.
The company which produces the freight-lifter took opportunity from the viral event to advertise its product. The advert reads “When things need to be done quickly.”
