Prime Minister Robert Abela has took the podium at the Labour Party Annual General Conference just right after Moviment Graffitti activists camped outside parliament ahead of yesterday’s protest against the government’s proposed planning reform.
In his speech, the Prime Minister announced that energy and electricity subsidies will continue for the upcoming year. Energy and electricity subsidies have kept Malta’s fuel and electricity prices low but have cost the public purse up to €1.5 billion already.
He also announced a significant increase in pensions and said no new taxes will be introduced.
The speech is ongoing and can be watched here.
