Two men arrested over burglary and attempted break-in at elderly residences in Mġarr and Ħal Għaxaq

Two men, aged 38 and 51, have been arrested following police investigations into a burglary and an attempted break-in at private residences belonging to elderly individuals in Mġarr and Ħal Għaxaq.

The first incident occurred on October 19 in Triq Sir Temi Zammit, Mġarr. Investigations revealed that one or more unidentified persons had forced open the main door of a residence and stolen around €18,000 in cash.

The second case took place a week later, on October 26, when police were informed that a person had tried to break into a home in Triq San Filippu, Ħal Għaxaq. However, for unknown reasons, the alleged burglar fled the scene before managing to enter the property.

Following ongoing inquiries, police identified two suspects believed to be involved in the incidents. The men are expected to appear in court today at around 1:30 p.m. before Magistrate Marseann Farrugia.
