3,344 motor vehicles added to Maltese roads in Q3: 334,641 cars on Maltese roads

There are currently up to 454,138 registered motor vehicles on Malta’s roads with up to 73.6% and 334,641, of these vehicles being passenger cars. According to the latest NSO statistics  up to 3,344 of new vehicles were added to Malta’s roads in Q3 alone. An average of 36 motor vehicles were registered every day.

In the same quarter, 6,143 vehicles were newly licensed (3,683 cars and 1,664 motorcycles/e-bikes), averaging 67 newly licensed vehicles per day.

The increase is 314 vehicles higher than the same quarter of last year which had an increase of up to 3,030 vehicles registered.

During Q3 2025, 6,804 vehicles were taken off the road due to restrictions: 36.4% garaged, 33.1% scrapped, and 28.3% resold.
