Firefighters rescue six residents and multiple in Mosta apartment blaze

A structure fire in a Mosta apartment block prompted a swift response from Civil Protection Malta on Saturday evening, as firefighters from Fire Stations 3 and 11 rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found a fire burning in the common area of a residential block containing four apartments. Ten firefighters, supported by two fire engines and a turntable ladder, worked to reach residents who had become trapped inside due to heavy smoke.

Firefighters successfully rescued six residents, along with several pets including a dog, a cat, a rabbit, and a parrot. Four of the residents were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for further medical treatment.

Civil Protection Malta expressed its gratitude to the Malta Police Force, the Mater Dei Hospital Emergency Department, Enemalta plc, and the private veterinarian who assisted on-site by tending to the rescued animals.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
