76 people arrested for living or working illegally in Malta in coordinated police operation

In recent days, a coordinated enforcement operation led to the arrest of 76 individuals found to be living and/or working in Malta irregularly.

The inspections were carried out on various public buses across Malta and Gozo, as well as on private cars and work vehicles.

The individuals arrested are from Syria, Nigeria, Gambia, Ghana, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Mali, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, and Serbia. They are currently being held in a detention centre pending repatriation procedures.

During the inspections, police officers were assisted by personnel from the Detention Services Agency, Transport Malta, JobsPlus, and Identitร .

The Police Corps stated that this intensive enforcement work will continue in the coming days and weeks.
