Just after the Courts have gagged the press over Yorgen Fenech’s trial, the Labour Party has begun promoting Yorgen Fenech’s lawyer, Charles Mercieca on its TV propaganda arm, ONE. The Labour Party gives itself away over its intention to deliberately promote him by having him speak about doemstic violence: Charles Mercieca as a lawyer doesn’t specialise on women’s issues and domestic violence. There are plenty of female lawyers who specialise on domestic violence who could have been more relevant.
The fact that he is so irrelevant to this issue but is being dragged to speak about it by the editorial of the newsroom of ONE itself gives away Labour’s current amoral and criminal state. Charles Mercieca is also the son of Franco Mercieca, a previous Labour MP who is also a close friend of Joseph Muscat. The fact that he is the lawyer of someone accused of murdering a journalist doesn’t matter to ONE’s pipsqueaks, but for a literal fascist such as the editor of ONE’s newsroom himself, it’s a very calculated and blatant offense directed at the independent press. Fascists such as Josef Caruana celebrated the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, and now they are being slightly more transparent by genuinely showing their allegiances in a murder case.
Previously, Prime Minister Robert Abela pretended that Labour had disassociated from Keith Schembri and that it has no longer any links with Yorgen Fenech. This pretense is now slightly being shed as Yorgen Fenech is going to trial and the Prime Minister builds a new acquaintance with Keith Schembri. Charles Mercieca is paraded by ONE as a “renowned lawyer” and Joseph Muscat has never been more influential in the Labour Party since the 2019 crisis.
Labour has reverted to being Joseph Muscat’s personal party, and it no longer seems concerned about hiding its state as a criminal organisation.
