As we approach the new year, we are currently conducting an ongoing fund-raising campaign to raise funds for next year.
The Maltese Herald does not make a profit and is challenged by barriers of entry in the local public advertising market. Until the implementation of the Media Freedom Directive we will have a significant disadvantage against our major and larger competitors.
For next year, we plan to launch and publish a major investigation that concerns the rule of-flaw in Malta and criminal collusion by high-ranking members of the authorities and the government. This investigation is very complex and multi-layered and delves deep into the causes that fractured the rule-of-law in Malta and gave widespread impunity to local organised crime connected to politics.
I have also instructed all of my lawyers to look into the investigation and prepare the case for next year.
We are going to take our investigations to a new level and whilst doing so we aim to develop further our press outlet and engage more writers and journalists.
