Two men have been arrested following intensive police investigations into a robbery carried out against a woman earlier this month.
The suspects, aged 37 and 35 and both residents of Qormi, were identified and arrested in the past hours, police said.
The incident took place on 11th December at around 8:00 a.m., when police were informed that a woman had been found injured on the ground in a parking area close to the Addolorata Cemetery in Raฤงal ฤ did. Officers who rushed to the scene established that the victim, a 43-year-old woman, had been walking in the area when a masked man attacked her from behind and stole her handbag, which contained a mobile phone and a sum of cash.
The assailant then fled the scene in a car that was waiting nearby, driven by another individual. The woman was taken to the Raฤงal ฤ did Health Centre for treatment and was later certified to have sustained minor injuries.
Following further inquiries and the analysis of several security camera recordings, police were able to identify both the alleged attacker and the driver of the getaway vehicle.
The two men were arraigned in court on Thursday at around 1:30 p.m. before Magistrate Gabriella Vella.
