BOV Amateur League I: Attard rejoin Mqabba at the summit

Attard moved back level with Mqabba at the top of the BOV Amateur League I standings after securing a 3โ€“1 victory over Senglea Athletic at the Charles Abela Stadium on Sunday.

Precious Uchechukwu Nwankwo opened the scoring for Attard on 38 minutes, and just a minute later Tejumola Ebenezer Ayorinde doubled the advantage. Senglea responded early in the second half through Jack Zammit on 52 minutes, but Nicolai Sammut sealed the win with Attardโ€™s third goal on 73 minutes.

League leaders Mqabba, meanwhile, suffered a 2โ€“0 defeat at the hands of San ฤ wann at the Sirens Stadium. Denilson Borg broke the deadlock on 61 minutes before Gonzalo Nicolas Virano added a second goal on 75 minutes.

At the Charles Abela Stadium, Qormi recorded a comfortable 2โ€“0 win over Pembroke Athleta. Emmanuel David Garba gave Qormi the lead five minutes before the break, and Ayrton Azzopardi doubled the advantage on 63 minutes.

Qrendi were also in convincing form at the Sirens Stadium, beating Mellieฤงa 3โ€“0. Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe struck on 14 minutes, with Gianfranco Micallef adding a second on 84 minutes and Dylan Micallef completing the scoring deep into stoppage time on 94 minutes.

Lija Athletic continued their fine run of form by registering a third consecutive victory, defeating Victoria Hotspurs 2โ€“0 at the Sirens Stadium. Ross McParland was the hero for Lija, scoring both goals on 51 and 69 minutes.

Elsewhere, a 72nd-minute goal by Stefi Cale handed ลปejtun Corinthians a narrow 1โ€“0 win over Kirkop United at the Centenary Stadium. In another match at the same venue, Luqa St. Andrewโ€™s overcame Xgฤงajra Tornados 3โ€“0, with Collins Gyamfi netting twice on 60 and 76 minutes, while Nathan Frendo added the second goal on 66 minutes.

At the top of the table, Attard and Mqabba are level on 18 points. San ฤ wann follows with 16 points, while Qormi and Qrendi are on 15. Lija Athletic have 11 points, Victoria Hotspurs, ลปejtun Corinthians, and Mellieฤงa have 10, Pembroke Athleta eight, Kirkop United and Luqa St. Andrewโ€™s seven, and Senglea Athletic and Xgฤงajra Tornados are bottom with four points each.
