Matchday 7 of the GFA BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, played on Saturday 10 January 2026, delivered goals and drama at the Kercem Stadium as St Lawrence Spurs FC and Sannat Lions FC both recorded important victories to remain firmly in the promotion race.
St Lawrence Spurs produced a dominant display to overwhelm Oratory Youths FC 5โ1, inspired by an outstanding four-goal performance from Felipe Augusto De Oliveira.
The Spurs got off to a flying start when Charlon Farrugia opened the scoring after just four minutes. They doubled their advantage on 33 minutes through De Oliveira, only for Oratory Youths to respond immediately as Aroldo Da Silva Arruda, known as Aroldinho, reduced the deficit a minute later.
Any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished in the second half. De Oliveira restored St Lawrenceโs two-goal cushion six minutes after the restart before completing his hat-trick on 80 minutes. The Brazilian forward was not done yet, adding his fourth and the teamโs fifth goal three minutes from time to cap a convincing win.
Earlier in the day, Sannat Lions FC claimed a hard-fought 3โ1 victory over Munxar Falcons FC in a match that swung dramatically from the opening moments.
Sannat suffered an early setback when Eric Gauci was shown a red card in the seventh minute, leaving the Lions to play almost the entire match with ten men. Munxar immediately took advantage, with Ayesller Carvalho converting a penalty in the eighth minute to put the Falcons ahead.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, Sannat showed great resilience and drew level on 27 minutes through Igor Nedeljkovic. The Lions carried that momentum into the second half and went in front three minutes after the restart thanks to Kieran Calleja.
Munxar pushed for an equaliser, but Sannat held firm and sealed the points deep into stoppage time when Nedeljkovic struck again to complete his brace and wrap up a vital win.
Following these results, the top of the Second Division table remains tightly contested. Sannat Lions FC, St Lawrence Spurs FC and Gharb Rangers FC are all level on 14 points after seven matches, while Zebbug Rovers FC sit fourth on 10 points. Oratory Youths FC have four points, with Munxar Falcons FC at the foot of the table on two.
With the promotion race heating up, the coming matchdays promise even more intensity and drama in the Gozo Second Division.
