Chickens were left wet and cold following a hailstorm that hit Malta overnight, according to claims made about conditions at Razzett tal-Bagħal in Buskett.
The animals were seen inside a fenced area covered only by green netting, offering limited protection from the severe weather. The site forms part of a project financed by European Union funds.
The situation was highlighted in a video shared on Facebook by Iris Vella from Partit Aħwa Maltin. In her comments, Vella called on the authorities and those responsible for the project to take immediate action to address the welfare of the animals.

The incident follows previous cases raising concerns about animal welfare and alleged animal cruelty in Malta.
