Trump unleashes new tariffs against Europe over Greenland: does not reply to question on whether he would attack another NATO country

US President Donald Trump has announced that he will be unleashing new tariffs on a group of European countries for refusing to agree on his demand to annex Greenland. An additional 10% tariff will be imposed on products by Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, France, Germany, the UK, and the Netherlands, from the February 1st and will rise to to 25% on June 1, or โ€œuntil such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland.โ€

Denmark has begun increasing its military presence in Greenland and 50-European troop contingent has arrived on the island with more Danish troop and naval placements planned for later this year. Denmark is also conducting air exercises with France with Iceland also being used for Danish jets. Footage of an exercise released by the Royal Danish Air Force is published below.

Questioned by MS Now, President Donald Trump did not want to confirm or deny whether he would attack another NATO country. President Trump insists that he wants Greenland for defence and security purposes against Russia and China. Greenland and Denmark have both rejected Trump’s demands to annex Greenland.

Meanwhile, MEPs have called for the suspension of the US-EU trade agreement.
