The EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced the European Ink legislation for European companies to reduce bureaucracy across European states and enhance cross-border European business. Businesses will be able to register online in 48 hours and will enjoy access to all of Europe’s capital regime.
Europe must change permanently too and create a new independent Europe. This new Europe is already being created and the EU has acted quickly in response to global events in various fields including energy and defence. The latest Mercusor agreement will help diversify European trade and achieve further independence as we empower free trade over isolation. The trade agreements with Mexico, Indonesia and Switzerland have also been made and further trade agreements with Australia, the United Araba Emirates and India are being discussed. She dubbed the potential trade deal with India as the mother of all deals.
Europe has all the assets it needs to attract investment, however the EU needs to create a predictable regulatory environment she said. The European Ink initiative will help streamline European rules for companies – this initiative is also in line with the creation of the European Banking Union and the legislation for this is in progress.
The EU Commission President also announced the work for the creation of the energy union and this will help stabilise European electricity prices. European electricity prices remain high despite the drive to non-renewable energy.
On defence, she said that what Europe has achieved in the past year has been far greater than what it achieved in the preceding decades. She said that at least three European military start-ups have reached unicorn status and defence investment is rapidly increasing along with development in AI technology.
On Ukraine, she said that Europe will stand with Ukraine until a lasting perceived and she condemned Russia for bombing Ukrainian infrastructure, leaving millions of people without electricity during the freezing temperatures of Winter. She said that Europe needs to ensure that Ukraine defend itself in any peace agreement. She also reiterated that Europe will keep Russia’s assets frozen and will retain the retain on their use.
The EU Commission President also said that Europe will not back down over Greenland and that Arctic security has to be ensured together with the allies. She condemned President Donald Trump for unleashing new tariffs against Europe and for breaking his word over the trade deal signed in last July. “A deal is a deal” she said, and friends don’t go back ib their word, she added. She added that the EU is working on a an Arctic Security package which will also be aimed to defend Denmark’s and Greenland territorial security.
President von der Leyen insisted that Europe needs to co-operate with all of its security partners to ensure its security including Canada and Iceland.
