The Danish press is reporting that Denmark has begun boosting its military presence in Greenland. A Danish Bombardier Challenger military jet was also spotted earlier in Nuuk’s airport, Greenland.
There have been no details released about a meeting that took place earlier today at the White House between Denmark’s Foreign Affairs Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt, and US Vice-President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Greenland’s position is that it will not welcome a US occupation.
French President Emmanuel Macron said today at a cabinet meeting that any unilateral action by the US over Greenland would be met with French action. France signed an agreement with Denmark guaranteeing its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
President Donald Trump has reiterated that the US needs Greenland for US security and that he won’t allow Russia and China gain a foothold in the arctic country.
