A rally that could have been an email

There were no major announcements made during the Prime Minister’s very much hyped sixth year anniversary on Friday. The Labour Party spent a lot of time, energy and funds promoting and organising this rally but the Prime Minister’s speech didn’t meet its expectations. You can watch the full rally here.

The only announcement made was that Fort Salvatore in Kalkara will be re-gained from private ownership and handed back to the public. This means that the government will be buying the property from its private owners. Dom Mintoff gave the property to his brother on emphyteusis which was redeemed in 1982 with its tenant effectively purchasing the property. It is unclear who owns the property today and this has not been revealed by the press.

The Prime Minister repeated his usual talking points: that his Minister for Finance is more competent than his Shadow in the Opposition (Adrian Delia), and that the Labour government will keep addressing the cost of living situation by increasing social expenditure such as pensions and energy subsidies.
