Aidan wins Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with ‘Bella’

Aidan has won the Malta Eurovision Song Contest (MESC) 2026 and will represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna this May.

The 26-year-old singer triumphed on Saturday evening with his song Bella, securing a total of 283 points. He received 113 points from the professional jury and 170 from the public televote. Matt Blxck placed second with Ejja lejja ħdejja ’l hawn (The Flute) on 268 points, despite topping the televoting with 200 points, while Mychael Bartolo Chircop finished third with My Sweet Angel on 136 points.

“This has been my dream since I was a young boy, and because of you, my dream has come true,” Aidan said moments after being announced the winner. He was presented with the trophy by last year’s winner, Miriana Conte.

Aidan had been an early favourite to win with his jazzy, 1950s-inspired track blending Maltese, English and Italian, which gained strong support from both local and international Eurovision fans. His performance featured a minimalist stage setup, a black leather, cowboy-inspired outfit, and a dramatic finale with rose petals swirling around the stage.

The final was broadcast live from the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali, where 12 artists competed. Voting was split between a professional jury and nationwide televoting. The show was hosted by Keane Cutajar alongside former Junior Eurovision winners Destiny Chukunyere and Gaia Cauchi, and carried the nostalgic theme L-ewwel lejla li ħabbejt (The first evening I loved).

Aidan is no stranger to the contest, having placed second in MESC 2022 with Ritmu. He was disqualified from the competition in 2023 over a breach of contest regulations related to social media posts.

The Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals will take place on 12th and 14th May, with the grand final on 16th  May. Malta will compete in the second semi-final on 14th May.
