Malta has made a nominal and voluntary contribution of up to €20,000 to the Trust Fund for Victims run by the International Criminal Court. Along with the contribution, the Maltese government issued a statement of support to the International Criminal Court saying that “it serves as a beacon of hope and justice for victims worldwide”.
Malta has been making a yearly contribution to the fund of up to €20,000 since 2021. The fund compensates victims over crimes against humanity and genocide.
ICC judges and prosecutors have been sanctioned by the US government over the ICC’s case against Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu. The EU has reiterated its support for the ICC.
