Maxuell ‘Samurai’ Maia Hat-Trick powers Gżira United to dominant win over Marsaxlokk

Gżira United launched their Closing Round campaign in spectacular style on Sunday, securing a convincing 3-0 victory against Marsaxlokk at the Centenary Stadium.
The star of the match was Brazilian forward Maxuell ‘Samurai’ Maia, who netted a clinical hat-trick to ensure the Maroons started the second half of the Premier League season on the strongest possible footing. Following a disappointing Opening Round where they failed to secure a Top Six spot, Gżira appeared revitalized and determined to prove their competitive edge.
The breakthrough came early, with Maia finding the back of the net in just the 16th minute. A rattled Marsaxlokk side struggled to respond, and Gżira capitalized on their momentum when Maia doubled the lead at the half-hour mark.
In the second half, Marsaxlokk coach Vincenzo Potenza attempted to spark a comeback by introducing attackers Redon Mihana and Jubhel Tsoumou. Despite the added pressure, Gżira United’s defense remained resolute. Maia eventually put the game beyond reach in the 71st minute, completing his hat-trick and sealing a vital three points for his side.
