There’s a new trend of AI slop and fake media news outlets being completely generated by AI and algorithmic software. Many Maltese social media users can’t seem to distinguish between AI slop and actual news content generated by humans.
Some mainstream press outlets are also heavily-relying on AI software to generate much of their content further blurring the lines between the AI-generated slop and the human press.
Most of this AI-content is created very randomly with the software picking up bits and pieces from different sources to create its own text and images.
Social media users should be aware that pages with anonymous owners are not reliable and should not be treated as trustworthy sources of information. The same should be applied with pseudo-press outlets without any journalists.
