Yesterday, the European Parliament approved a scathing resolution against the Islamic regime of Iran, highlighting the recent death toll of its systematic killing of protestors which potentially ranges up to 35,000 people killed. The EU Parliament said that the crimes by the Iranian regime meet the threshold of crimes against humanity and encouraged member-states to increase sanctions against the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and regime members.
The resolution was adopted by 524 votes in favour, 3 against and 41 abstentions.
The resolution follows the EU’s designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organisation.
The European Parliament also approved a resolution condemning Turkey’s human rights violations over the expulsion of foreign journalists. Another resolution approved condemned the Ugandan government’s repression against the Opposition.
