EU High Representative Kaja Kallas started her remarks after the conclusion of the European Foreign Council meeting by once again stressing that Europe must remain united a become stronger and applauded the previous deal with India ins regard.
The most significant decision at today’s Foreign Council meeting was that the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps of Iran have been designated as a terrorist organisation over the killing of thousands of Iranian protestors during theย protests earlier this year. The Iranian Minister of Interior has also been sanctioned. The EU is also calling on the releases of the thousands of protestors and civilians detained among whom include EU citizens.
High Representative Kallas said that Russia hasn’t made a token effort for peace and described its attack on a train this week s a war crime. She added that energy is a new front line and the EU is releasing further โฌ50 million for energy support apart from new generators. The High Representative also appealed for more air-defence stocks. Work on the โฌ90 billion loan is advancing and also a 20th sanctions package.
On Gaza, the EU is aiding the Palestinian Authority and expects Hamas to hand over transition in accordance with the Peace Plan along with the opening of the Rafah Crossing by Israel.
The High-Commissioner also described Sudan as the biggest ongoing humanitarian crisis in the world and the EU will seek to increase humanitarian aid as it considers further action according to developments.
