Malta’s Foreign Direct Investment abroad rises up to €459 billion in June last year: FDI sum to Malta up to €485 billion

According to the latest statistics by the NSO, Foreign Direct Investment into Malta in June 2025 increased by up to €5.6 billion compared to last year reaching a total of €485 billion. The FDI of Maltese citizens abroad reached up to €459 billion with an increase of €6.1 billion.

Malta’s overall value of its FDI position increased by €13.2 billion and the FDI in Malta increased by €18.9 billion.

The FDI flows include securities, equity and debt which are directly owned and related by their holder – these figures do not include financial assets held in banks and funds.

Malta’s economy mainly depends on FDI and foreign companies that set-up shop providing their services or exports. However the statistics denoted here mostly compose of financial institutions, insurances and banks.
