According to the latest data issued by the NSO, Malta recorded a year-on-year decrease of 3.4% in total non-fatal workplace incidents from 2024 to 2025. In 2024 a total of 2,188 non-fatal workplace accident claims were recorded (1,085 in the first half and 1,103 in the second half). In comparison, figures for 2025 show 2,114 non-fatal claims (1,041 in the first half and 1,073 in the second half). On the other hand, while there were 4 fatal workplace accidents in 2024, the provisional total for 2025 has risen to 9 fatalities
Most of the fatalities at work in 2025 took place in construction sites followed by factories. The fatal accidents at construction sites included the 40-year-old Pakistani worker who fell from a site in ลปabbar, a 25-year-old Turkish worker who fell at a construction site by DB Group in Pembroke, a 41-year-old worker from ลปebbuฤก electrocuted at a site in Gฤงajn Tuffieฤงa, a 28-year-old Indian man who fell from an apartment block in San ฤ wann, and another 41-year-old Maltese worker who fell at a site in Saint Paul’s Bay. Other workers who died in a fatal workplace accident include a 34-year-old Nigerian man who died after being trapped between a machine at a factory in Qormi, and a 41-year-old Indonesian man who fell from a ship in Marsa.
