Police have arrested four people – two Italian and two Maltese nationals – on the connection of the alleged trafficking of cocaine.
Police have stated that the amount of drugs found is equal to €600,000.
The police said in a statement that the two Italian nationals, a woman aged 42 and a man aged 49, came to Malta using the Sicily ferry service between Pozzallo and the Grand Harbour.
They were then followed by the police to Gudja where they met up with the Maltese individuals – two men both aged 26.
Drugs were found inside their vehicles and all four were arrested on site.
All four have been taken to Floriana for lock-up and are to face criminal court next Thursday.
This is a developing situation.
