Charles De Gaulle enters the Mediterranean Sea: HMS Dragon grounded in Portsmouth over repairs and maintenance

The French flagship naval vessel Charles De Gaulle has crossed the Strait of Gibraltar and entered the Mediterranean Sea yesterday morning and is now en route to the east of the Mediterranean. The French flagship carrier was previously deployed in the Baltic Sea.

Spain also deployed a naval frigate following Iran’s attacks on Cyprus but HMS Dragon which was also deployed to Cyprus is grounded in Portsmouth over repairs and maintenance. Trade unions at Portsmouth Harbour blamed new working hours for the delay. Italy has deployed the naval frigate Federico Martinengo which is also equipped with air-defence.
