Prime Minister refuses to change abortion laws: Doctor calls on colleagues to stop reporting women over suspected abortions

The Labour government is refusing to depanlise abortion with the result of woman being handed suspended prison sentences over abortion practices. Instead, the Prime Minister is insisting the women that have been handed such sentences should be granted a Presidential Pardon.

Meanwhile, Doctor Natalie Psaila Stabile (an actual doctor not a lawyer) is urging her colleagues not to report women for suspected abortions given that these can also be miscarriages. She also said that the law does not protect “fetuses” and medical professionals are only allowed to legally report cases of self-harm or harm to other legally recognised persons.

This is more insane stuff from the Labour government as the Prime Minister acts like a feudal lord instead of addressing the matter from a policy-standpoint and conduct a reform which respects the human rights of women. Women are being treated like subjects who need the benevolent protection of the State instead of being treated as individuals who deserve their rights and privacy.
