A Malta-flagged French cargo vessel operated by CMA CGM has been allowed to transit through the Strait of Hormuz, but no details have been released by the French government. The cargo vessel, called the CMA CGM KRIBI (IMO 9694543), left the port of Jebel Ali in the UAE and is heading to the port of Pointe Noire in Congo.
The French government has not yet released a statement about the development. The Strait of Hormuz remains closed to most Western shipping.
Yesterday, the UK gathered with up to 40 countries and urged Iran to re-open the Strait of Hormuz for commercial shipping. The UK is also considering new sanctions on Iran if the strait remains closed. Many vessels remain stranded unable to pass through the Strait.
Meanwhile in Iran, US and Israeli airstrikes continued but an F-15 has been downed by Iranian air-defences. This is the second US fighting jet that Iran has struck during the course of the war and the first to have crashed in Iran. US special forces were reportedly searching for the pilot in Iran with Blackhawk helicopters.
The war in Iran is ongoing as President Donald Trump said he will send Iran back to the Stone Age.
