US to unsanction Iranian oil: Iran downs F-35

UPDATED: The F-35 was struck by Iranian air-defence but made an emergency-landing in a nearby base in the Gulf. The pilot remained unharmed.

In a surprise announcement made on Fox News, Us Secretary Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the US will unsaction Iranian oil so as to alleviate price pressures on the oil price. The surprise move follows another measure that temporally unsanctioned Russian oil at sea directed to India.

These desperate moves follow an intensification of the energy war in the Persian Gulf and the region including with the ongoing Battle of Hormuz.

Earlier today, Iran unsuccessfully targeted with drones Israel’s gas sites and also shot down an F-35 in Iran. The incident was confirmed by the US government. This is the first Western fighter jet to have been recorded downed by Iranian air defence.
