In a recorded statement issued by the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s armed-military wing, via spokesperson Abu Obeida, Hamas has reiterated that it won’t disarm until Israel fulfills its conditions and withdraws from Gaza.
Israel has kept its airstrikes and military operations in Gaza despite the ceasefire agreement and refused to withdraw from Gaza. Up to 700 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire was announced earlier this year. Another civilian casualty of Israeli airstrikes have been reported today with the victim identified as a driver who worked for World Health Organization named Majdi Aslan. Israel has also released footage of an attack on a car in Gaza (below).
According to the ceasefire agreement brokered by President Donald Trump, Israel needs to withdraw from Gaza while Hamas needs to disarm simultaneously but none of the parties are fulfilling their obligations. Hamas blames Israel for its continued attacks and ongoing aggression in Gaza. Hamas also condemned Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and the restrictions imposed on Al-Quds Mosque.
Hamas was also supposed to handover power to the Palestinian Authority but it has been consolidating its power instead by purging its opponents.
Gaza is still going through a humanitarian crisis with entry to humanitarian being heavily restricted by Israel while Palestinians in Gaza are also being held from fleeing the enclave. The Gaza Peace Board has so far been ineffective to fulfill its mandate.
