The Armed Forces of Malta has released a statement announcing that its members in Lebanon as port of the UNIFIL contingent are safe and unharmed. The statement has been issued after Israel has targeted UNIFIL troops in Lebanon. At least one UNIFIL officer from Indonesia has been killed by Israel during the course of Israel’s ongoing war in Lebanon.
The Maltese officers in Lebanon, five in total, serve under the command of the Irish contingent. The AFM said that the officers are working in a complex and challenging theatre, but they remain fully committed to fulfill their mission with the highest standards.
