US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran have abated early this morning after it was announced that Iran has sent its negotiating proposals to the US. The proposals sent by Iran include a protocol for the safe passage of the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions relief and also reconstruction aid.
Yesterday, Israel struck the South Pars gas facility before President Trump’s deadline that threatened to bomb Iran’s power plants and bridges. Airstrikes continued throughout the night on Tehran and other cities targeting IRGC sites.
EU Council President Antonio Costa said that the targeting of civilian power plants is illegal. Questioned yesterday at the White House’s grounds whether he thought that bombing civilian power plants was illegal, President Trump said that the Iranian regime had killed 45,000 protestors, they are animals and can’t be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.
President Trump also said that Iran’s current proposals are not good enough and that talks need to continue to ensure the re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Previously, President Trump said that the re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz was not his concern.
Traffic at the Strait of Hormuz continues to increase slightly but oil prices are still elevated with WTI at $105 as of writing.
