Prime Minister Robert Abela announces general election for May 30th

Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced a general election for May 30th. He didn’t give any reason as to why he is calling a general election. He gave a word salad about the Strait of Hormuz and said that “someone is trying to switch off the oil tap for the whole world” and “this situation is now done on a daily basis”, but he didn’t explain why these alleged events require an early general election.

Former MP and anti-corruption activist Jason Azzopardi has stated that the Prime Minister is calling an early election due to revelations about government corruption which will emerge next June.
