An 84-year-old woman has died following a traffic accident in Ħamrun on Sunday morning, police confirmed.
The incident occurred at around 8:30am in Triq Ċensu Borġ, where the elderly woman, a resident of Ħamrun, was struck by a van. Initial investigations indicate that the vehicle involved was an Isuzu Elf driven by a 67-year-old man from Rabat.
A medical team was called to the scene, and the woman was taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where she was later certified to be suffering from serious injuries. She subsequently passed away in hospital.
Duty Magistrate Joseph Mifsud has been informed of the case and has appointed an inquiry.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
