Labour Party pledges to indoctrinate propagandists via “PBS Campus Hub”

As part of its new proposals against the free press, the Labour Party intends to create what it calls the “PBS Campus Hub”. The Government and the Public Broadcasting Services have been violating multiple articles and principles of the European Media Freedom Act. With regars to PBS, the government is breaching the Act by using the public broadcaster as a propaganda vehicle and for its lack of independence.

The Labour Party is not giving up control over the public broadcaster, as it should under the new European Media Freedom Act. Instead, it intends to use PBS to train and cultivate more propagandists. Effectively, the Labour Party is going to increase its control over the public broadcaster.

The Labour Party has gutted the public broadcaster with its propagandists and these include Saviour Balzan, Quinton Scerri and Ricky Caruana. Its newsroom is also a shallow service run by and with Labour Party supporters. The public broadcaster has effectively killed any reasoned political debate and reduced everything into one large propaganda show. They believe that because they feature as many Opposition MPs as Labour government MPs — something already measured by the Broadcasting Authority — the public broadcaster is therefore “impartial” and “professional”.

Public broadcasting was much better under previous Nationalist administrations. Previously, the public broadcaster enjoyed the contribution and the work of actual journalists and journalistic programmes. Despite its many flaws, the public broadcaster did provide a service to the public. I remember a time during the Nationalist administrations when, as a dissident activist, I could actually appear on the public broadcaster and be given enough time to challenge the government alongside another reasonable voice. Now, PBS primarily provides a service to the Labour Party.

You forgot about Paula Cauchi, daughter of Gino Cauchi, who fails to stay neutral (especially with PN guests) during the daily programme airing on TVM.
