Victims of Lilu l-King have Byron Camilleri to thank for keeping a Libyan criminal warlord in Malta

Like many others, I have been reading with interest about Lilu l-King’s and Jordan Azzopardi’s case of rape and abduction. Lilu l-King (actual name is Mohammed Al-Misrati) is a Libyan warlord and drug-trafficker who came to Malta to escape justice from Libya to peddle and traffic drugs. While in Malta, has abused and victimised multiple citizens who all of them fear for their lives.

I don’t blame the victims: the man is a literal warlord and a violent criminal. He is currently being charged along with Jordan Azzopardi with abducting and raping a man who used to date his girlfriend. Lilu l-King is an idiot lunatic who built his drug business and presence in Malta with sheer violence and his forceful presence. He was in Court for victimising at least two other persons in the recent years.

He’s the textbook character that would fall under a high risk profile, and as a result, extradited back to his country where he should face justice over kidnaping and murder in Libya. This is the direct responsibility of the Minister of Interior who instead of keeping Maltese society safe, has built a system accommodating dangerous criminals like Lilu l-King and his associate Jordan Azzopardi. Jordan Azzopardi is another idiot who fancies himself as Malta’s “El Chapo”. Extradition is under the Minister’s direct responsibility and can be done executively – just like when the government kicked out a group of Ethiopians who were conducting legitimate businesses and even paying their taxes.

Their criminal business, selling cocaine and marijuana on a wholesale and retail level could have been more discrete, but like many other criminals, they are unable to control themselves and are often in the press for their stupidities.

They should be grateful for the Labour government especially for relaxing anti-money laundering rules and disarming prosecutors and the Police from the laws, resources and personnel required to investigate the finances of these criminals. Maybe they can even follow Joseph Muscat’s example and praise the Home Affairs himself during his political rally.
