Jacques Scerri brings four-year spell at Tarxien Rainbows to an end

Jacques Scerri has officially announced his departure from Tarxien Rainbows FC after nearly four years in charge, bringing to a close a memorable spell that featured promotion success, cup progress and a determined fight for survival.

Reflecting on his tenure, Scerri described the journey as one filled with challenges, resilience and commitment, highlighting the clubโ€™s promotion to the Malta Premier League against the odds as one of the standout achievements of his time at the club.

Under his leadership, Tarxien also reached the semi-finals of the Jubilee Cup, while this past season saw the team stage a remarkable late revival in their battle to avoid relegation. A seven-match unbeaten run forced a decisive encounter, although the Rainbows ultimately fell short at the final hurdle.

Despite the disappointment, Scerri praised the dedication shown by everyone involved at the club throughout the campaign.

โ€œProud of the effort, commitment and resilience we all gave until the very end. We never gave up despite all the obstacles,โ€ Scerri said.

He paid tribute to his assistants Matthew Tabone and Renald Bugeja for their unwavering support during demanding moments, while also thanking fellow technical staff members Godwin Gatt, Roderick Agius, David Mangion, Willgon Baldacchino and Dillon Mercieca for their hard work behind the scenes.

Scerri also commended the players for continually pushing themselves and supporting one another throughout the difficult moments of the season.

Special thanks were also extended to club president Tony Cassar, Anton Tabone, John Vella, Neil Portelli, Alistair Avallone, the committee members, as well as Svet Lana, Duncan Dโ€™Amato and Brian Galea for their trust and support during his spell at the club.

He also expressed gratitude towards his family for their patience and constant encouragement throughout the highs and lows of football.

In his farewell message, Scerri thanked Tarxien supporters for standing by the team throughout the journey, including during the most difficult periods.

โ€œI sincerely wish Tarxien Rainbows FC, especially the supporters and my successor, the very best of luck. I am sure that with renewed energy and enthusiasm, the future is bright,โ€ he concluded.
