The Electoral Commission has released the figures for the turnout of the general election and it amounts to 87.4%, slightly higher than the 2022 turnout which was at 85.6%.
In 2022, 304,050 votes cast out of 355,075 registered voters, and by contrast this year 311,949 votes were cast from 356,832 eligible voters.
The President of Malta, Myriam Spiteri Debono thanked all political parties for their participation in the elections and for conducting a mature political campaign.
Counting of votes is underway at Naxxar and a mote definitive result is expected after 12PM.
