The war in Ukraine is set to continue as after Vladimir Putin refused to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensly to hold direct talks. In a public response to the letter sent to him by President Zelensky, Putin said that the war will continue until “Russia’s goals are achieved”.
At the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin said that the letter by President Zelensky was “insolent” and that a meeting would only serve the Ukrainian side. He implored his troops to continue fighting.
In response, President Zelensky approved further strikes on Russian soil. Explosions have also been reported in the Russian city of Rostov and the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Mariupol during the night. Ukraine is gaining the upper-hand in its effort to repel Russia’s invasion with continued successes in the frontline. Russia is responding by escalating its murderous attacks on civilians during the night.
In his letter to Putin, President Zelensky highlighted the enormous Russian losses on the frontline and told him that he does not have enough resources to keep buying the loyalty of Russians as he has done during his 26 years in power. President Zelensky noted that Russia is now dependent on China, and also warned him that when Russians grow tired, they will seek change and Putin’s own existence will become threatened.
He confidently said that Ukraine can defeat him, but also said that Ukrainians do not want a permanent war and that he is ready to meet him to discuss its end. He reiterated that this war was his (Putin’s) choice and that he could end it whenever he wanted to.
